Local government is given help to prioritise public health schemes

Abstract

Public health should be put at the top of local government agendas in England, as it provides good value for money, says the health think tank the King’s Fund. The charity has produced a set of resources to help councils prioritise public health interventions (www.kingsfund.org.uk/iph). Since April local authorities have been given renewed responsibility for public health, but the King’s Fund said that as yet there have been few resources to help them identify what works.
