Abstract
- During Princeton Theological Seminary’s 2018 conference on currents, perspectives, and methodologies in world Christianity, organizers invited doctoral students to present short abstracts on their dissertation projects. Their research offers us a window into the future of world Christianity as an academic field. This article reviews a sample of the presented projects, exploring what new questions, methods, and patterns of thought are animating the next generation of world Christianity scholars, including (1) a new sensitivity to the bricolaged nature of culture in a globalized and postmodern era, (2) an orientation toward contemporary concerns in the humanities and social sciences, and (3) increased experimentation with multiple methods and disciplinary perspectives.
