Abstract

Revelation 1:5a-d is the first christological component of the Book of Revelation. It is a faith-reflection on the historical phenomenon of Christ and his transcendental acts in the final phase of God's kingdom. Christ's deeds are directed at the blessing of God's churches and he is God's highest revelation. With three attributive descriptions he is qualified from a covenant's perspective as the highest Prophet, Priest and cosmic King. This christology is placed in a heilgeschichtlich context.
