International perspectives on data

Nurses remain at the forefront of data integration at the international level. Efforts may include abstraction or recording of data to evaluate quality of care, generating evidence to guide best practice recommendations, or applying findings from research or quality data to improve care processes and patient outcomes across settings and populations. As key stakeholders in care delivery around the world, nurses must possess a basic understanding of the evolution of international metrics for quality healthcare, challenges associated with international metrics, and resources available to advance healthcare quality on a global scale.
