Glenohumeral Capsule and Ligaments

This chapter reviews the anatomy , function and variation of the glenohumeral joint capsulo-ligamentous complex. The variability in anatomy of these structures is significant, with normal and pathologic variations that are important to understand and differentiate. We describe these variations with respect to the superior, middle and inferior glenohumeral ligaments as well as outlining the pathoanatomy of the other, less well-studied ligaments, namely, the coracohumeral ligament, the capsular semicircular band (rotator cable) and the coracoglenoid ligament.
