Abstract

About 1000 nuclei were produced and developed within a filament of a glass ceramics with a diameter of 43 μm and a length of 14 mm. All crystallized centres are spheres to a good approximation with a diameter of about 7 μm. The x coordinates of all nuclei, where the x axis equals the axis of the filament, were microscopically measured. From these results we prove that the nuclei are statistically independently distributed in the x direction. Furthermore, the y coordinates of all nuclei were measured. From these results we prove that the nuclei are distributed within the volume and not on the surface of the filament.
