Abstract

Quantum-dot cellular automata (QCA) is one of the applicable alternatives to current CMOS because of static hazards, leakage current and smaller area requirement. Therefore, it has achieved an important place in a digital circuit. In this work, the design of an efficient 2:1 demultiplexer structure based on a 3-input majority gate is proposed. This DEMUX design outperforms the existing 2:1 DEMUX designs available in the literature in terms of effective area, cell count and delay. The proposed demultiplexer design has 0.25% less effective area, 21 number of QCA cells with the delay of 1 clock cycle.
