Abstract
- A study is made of p-d reactions in which He/sup 3/ + pi /sup O/, He/ sup 3/ + omega /sup O/, He/sup 3/ + pi /sup +/ + pi /sup -/, He/sup 3/ + pi / sup O/ + pi /sup O/O, H/sup 3/ I pi /sup +/, H/sup 9/ + omega +, and H/sup 3/ + pi /sup +/ + pi /sup 9/ are produced. The omega is an assumed particle with a mass between 1 and 2.8 times that of the pi meson. An anomalous peak is found in the He3 spectra that behaves kinematically like a resonance of mass 310 Mev. It is shown that this resonance may be explained as a strong S-wave pi - pi attractive mode in the 1 = 0 state, or as an He/sup 3/- pi final state interaction. (T.F.H.)
