Abstract
- Laser frequency noise induced error is a huge barrier to sensitivity improvement in the resonator fiber optic gyro (RFOG). A universal and quantitative laser frequency noise analysis model is presented. A frequency noise measurement method based on a fiber ring resonator is proposed, as a powerful optimum criterion for the loop parameters. With the active frequency stabilization applied, the laser frequency noise is reduced to 0.15°/h close to the shot noise limit for the RFOG.
