Abstract
- An asymmetric and very compact orthomode transducer for dual-frequency-band applications with a high polarization purity is proposed and analyzed by means of a hybrid full-wave characterization based on the generalized admittance matrix (GAM) and the generalized scattering matrix (GSM) obtained with mode matching. An accurate, robust, and efficient computer code based on this procedure has been developed and used for the design of a dual-frequency OMT in the Ku-band. The numerical/experimental results for the structure confirm its excellent performance, i.e., low return and insertion losses, high isolation, and, especially, high polarization purity. ©1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
