The vibrational spectrum of the pentafluorodistannate (II) ion

The infra-red spectra of seven pentafluorodistannates (II) have been measured as Nujol mulls from 667-250 cm −1 and as Rigidex disks from 500-60 cm −1 . A normal co-ordinate analysis of the Sn 2 F 5 − ion with C 2 symmetry has been performed, using a general valence force field, and the vibrations assigned.
