Abstract: A convenient synthetic method is described for new type liquid crystals (LCs) containing a cyclohexyl trifluoromethyl ether moiety. The novel LCs are shown to exhibit mesophases and decrease birefringence and threshold voltage of host LCs upon mixing by 20 wt%.
