Abstract
- Nonmelanoma skin cancers (NMSC) are the most frequent cancers in fair-skinned adult patients. Among NMSC, basal cell carcinoma (BCC) are the most common. While the gold standard treatment of NMSC is surgery, alternative methods such as photodynamic therapy have been developed. The main advantage of photodynamic therapy is optimal healing, offering ad integrum skin restitution. This alternative treatment can be proposed for low-risk BCC. This is of particular interest for superficial BCC, which is often multiple and located in body sites (trunk and limbs) on which surgery often leaves dystrophic scars. Patients must be followed carefully to make appropriate decisions in case of failure.
