Thermal Analysis of Cathode and Grid Components of 500kW Tetrode

Abstract

The 500kW tetrode can be used as the radio frequency power supply for a Radio Frequency Quadrupole (RFQ) accelerator. The cathode plays a vital role in reliability and the life of the tetrode. The thermal analysis and structural analysis of the 500kW tetrode were carried out by using the finite element software. Under a given cathode power, the temperature field distribution of the key components of the tetrode is obtained. According to the influence of temperature on the tetrode under working conditions, the axial and radial temperature distributions of the cathode and grid are obtained. It is helpful to optimize the cooling system in the future by analyzing the temperature distribution of key components.
