Abstract
- To generate light-field display images, a large amount of cameras or input images is required. This creates difficulties in designing both the acquiring system and memory storage. In this paper, we propose an efficient light-field rendering algorithm using only a few input color and depth images. Using a depth map and estimated camera parameters, synthesized light-field images were directly generated. With the use of this algorithm, the memory load is much lighter than with a conventional light-field rendering algorithm. This algorithm is also much simpler than the imagebased rendering (IBR) algorithm because it does not involve the generation of many multiview images.
