Abstract

We developed an approach to analyze and synthesize linear electromagnetic metasurfaces at arbitrary angles of incidence. In addition to achieving closed-form expressions for the characterizing tensors, this approach provides physical insights into the metasurfaces’ operations. Thereafter, two sets of tensors are proposed so as to characterize arbitrary linear local metasurfaces in which spatially dispersive effects are negligible. Finally, the derived formulation is verified using full-wave simulations of a metasurface operating at THz frequencies.
