Abstract

Crystal structure analyses of nonacarbonyl-1κ 3 C,2κ 3 C,3κ 3 C-di-μ-hydrido- 1:2κ 2 H;2:3κ 2 H-μ 3 -(pyrid-1-ylmethylidyne)-triangulo-triruthenium, [Ru 3 (μ-H) 2 (μ 3 -C 6 H 5 N)(CO) 9 ], (I), and nonacarbonyl-1κ 3 C,2κ 3 C,3κ 3 C-μ 3 -[(4-ethylpyrid-1-yl)methylidyne]-di-μ-hydrido-1:2κ 2 H;2:3κ 2 H-triangulo-triruthenium, [Ru 3 (μ-H) 2 (μ 3 -C 8 H 9 N)(CO) 9 ], (II), reveal that both compounds consist of a triruthenium alkylidyne core with the nucleophiles [pyridine in (I) and 4-ethylpyridine in (II)] bonded to the μ 3 -bridging alkylidyne C atom
