Abstract: Colorless needle-like crystals of α-(NMe4)[Cu2I3] are prepared by solvothermal reaction of CuI, hexamethylenetetramine, and HI in MeOH in a molar ratio of 5:2:7:150 (autoclave, 150 °C, 120 h; 61% yield).
