Abstract

This study describes a sensitive and rapid method for the quantification of Cimetidine (Cim) based on surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), using silver nanoparticles as an SERS substrate. Ag nanoparticle was fabricated by hydrothermal method. The experiment includes the selection of solvent types and optimisation of volume radio. Results suggested that the intensity and logarithmic Cim concentration in the range from 1.0 × 10−8 to 1.0 × 10−4 M has a linear relationship with the coefficient of determination (R 2) of 0.989, the limit of detection (LOD) of 2.9 × 10−9 M, by targeting the characteristic peak at 2150 cm−1. The LOD of Cim in plasma using this method was as low as 1 ng/ml. This indicates that the method has a potential for detection of Cim in biological samples.
