Abstract

In recent years, due to continuous increase of load, grid components overload problem caused by weak regional connection is emerging. However, most regional grids have no load shedding solution and related application experience. This paper proposed the strategy, the Principle of Effective Load Shedding and De-sequencing Lines, and overall requirements for load shedding (i.e., N-2 thermal stability overload problem must have 3 rounds of repeated logic judgment independently with different value for each round.) Taking into account the principles of effectiveness and fairness, the first two rounds shedding load alternately according to different faults. In order to prevent ineffective load shedding, the third round of system splitting is designed based on power flow drop ranking in each power grid section as a backup strategy for first two round. Fixed round order and load priority ranking of load shedding are given.
