Fluorescence thermometer based on photoluminescence imaging of Ti doped sapphire

Abstract
- Photoluminescence (PL) images from Ti doped sapphire (Ti doped Al2O3) crystals are observed for 2-dimensional fluorescence thermometer applications. Red colored bright PL images can be observed clearly from Ti doped sapphire sensor using a CCD camera under blue LED illumination. Intensity of red signal of the PL image decreases linearly with temperature of the sensor. Ti doped sapphire sensor is found to be useful for fluorescence temperature measurement using PL imaging technique.
