Abstract

In this paper, split ring unit cells are proposed and designed for ultra-wideband RCS reduction. The split ring unit cell converts the incidence wave to its cross-polarization in wide bandwidth, and most importantly, the cross-polarized reflection phase and amplitude can be separately controlled by the cell geometry and rotation angle. Based on the diffuse reflection theory, reflection phase of the proposed split ring unit cells are tailored to form a ultrawide band RCS reduction metasurface. The designed metasurface demonstrate RCS reduction of 10 dB in the range of 8.75 GHz-24.7 GHz.
