of body weight, and varied in different experiments. In some series 0.5 gm. per kg. per day was given orally by means of a stomach tube; in others 0.25 gm. was used. In a few groups the drug was administered in diminishing doses, starting with 1.0 gm. per kg. per day, to 0.5 gm., to 0.25 gm., the latter being given as long as the drug was required. Rectal temperatures were taken twice daily, as were samples of blood for assay of the drug and for culture. Treatment was also administered morning and afternoon, except when otherwise indicated.
