Abstract: We consider polynomials of the form , where q ≤ 2 and show that, for . the Hausdorff dimension of the Julia set of such a polynomial satisfics where . This enables is to obtain an explict value for a bound given by Eremenko for the growth of the mean spherical derivative of a polynomial.
