Abstract

The.procedure included the assembly of measurements of 485 grad uates of a large military school on fifteen variables, including lead ership. Measurement of each group was spread over a four-year per iod; five class groups contributed to the total number. Side studies of various types were employed to ascertain the reliability and validity of the leadership criterion as well as that of the other variables. While the experimental design was rigid in the fact that instruments of meas urement were not under the writer's control, it was considered that this fact, plus the strict objectivity of data, precluded the introduction of personal bias or subjective judgment.
