Abstract
- Cooling load characteristics play a key role to the building, especially in self-sustained building. It is determined mainly by the building envelope thermal performance. This research investigates the effect of the building envelope on cooling load in low latitude and hot-humid area. In this paper, based on cooling load simulations, the effect of reducing the cooling load of building envelope and the life cycle cost was analyzed. In addition, the energy-saving system was established. For the life cycle cost analysis, the cost of each strategy was obtained through a survey in local stores. This paper determining the effect of external walls, windows, roof, shading on the building cooling load, and pointed out the optimum insulation thickness of roof and all orientation exterior wall. And the optimum window structure and exterior shading length was give.
