Abstract

Anterior glenohumeral instability is a common problem encountered by the orthopedic surgeon, particularly in young, active patients. Surgical treatment in cases without significant bone loss or other pathology consists of arthroscopic anterior labral repair, which restores stability and allows return to activities for the majority of patients. Intraoperative and postoperative complications are relatively uncommon after arthroscopic anterior labral repair, but when they occur, the consequences for the patient can be significant. Detailed understanding of the complications associated with arthroscopic anterior labral repair can help surgeons to optimize outcomes of this procedure by taking steps to prevent complications. When complications do occur, prompt recognition and appropriate management of complications can optimize patient outcomes of arthroscopic anterior labral repair.
