В статье освещается современное состояние и развитие мирового рынка угля в контексте его конкурентоустойчивости. Теоретическую основу работы составляют анализ актуальных научных публикаций, труды отечественных учёных в области анализа мирового рынка угля. Проанализированы мировые запасы, добыча и потребление угля. Рассмотрена роль ведущих участников мирового рынка угля и перспективы их взаимодействия. Рассмотрена вероятность повсеместного внедрения альтернативных источников энергии и полный отказ от угля. Приведена роль угольного энергоресурса и выделены факторы, способствующие поддержанию конкурентоустойчивости угольной электрогенерации. The article highlights the current state and development of the global coal market in the context of its competitive sustainability. The theoretical basis of the work is the analysis of current scientific publications, the works of domestic scientists in the field of analysis of the global coal market. The world reserves, production and consumption of coal are analyzed. The role of the leading participants in the world coal market and the prospects for their interaction are considered. The probability of the widespread introduction of alternative energy sources and the complete rejection of coal is considered. The role of the coal energy resource is given and the factors that contribute to maintaining the competitive sustainability of coal-fired power generation are highlighted.
