Abstract

Aerobiology concerns itself with the delivery of viruses, bacteria and organic and inorganic materials to the respiratory tract of test subjects. In this way, the effects of the test material, adverse or beneficial, can be judged in the test subject(s) following a reproducible and consistent delivery method. Most often used are nose-only or head-only exposures of the respiratory tract. This chapter provides a discussion of several generation methods for inhaled agents, most often viral or bacterial, to the breathing zone of an animal. A Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is outlined for the investigator to employ as a model for their use.
