Abstract

The study assessed the genetic contribution to the waveform and parameters of visual event-related potentials (VERPs) in adult twins. VERPs were recorded in 21 MZ twin pairs and 20 DZ same sex twin pairs to different types of stimuli. As expected, there was a large genetic contribution to the waveform and parameters of VERPs to flash stimuli, and also to the waveform and some parameters of VERPs to semantic stimuli with polyvariant description. The waveform and parameters of VERPs to simple semantic stimuli (a word and a picture) were mainly determined by environmental factors.
