Abstract

Heusler compound (Co1-xCrx)2CrAl for x=0 and 0.2 have been prepared by arc melting process. Room temperature XRD patterns of both compounds indicate single phase Cu2MnAl like L21 structure with B2 disorder. Resistivity measurement by varying temperature from 8-300K indicates metal like behavior of all compounds. At high temperature (above 150K) resistivity for both compounds linearly increases with increasing temperature. At low temperature region (≈8-40K) nonlinearity is observed in resistivity vs. temperature plot because of unconventional one-magnon scattering and two-magnon scattering that indicates half-metallic nature of both compounds. Magneto-resistance (MR) at 10K and 300K with varying magnetic field from 0-12 Tesla for both compounds have positive value but do not follow H2 dependency. The MR value at 10K at 12 Tesla magnetic field for the compound x=0 is 7.3% and for x=0.2 is 4.98%.
