Abstract

Moral inference (i.e., learning about the moral character of another individual) can be described via a Bayesian inference framework in which beliefs are updated in proportion to their uncertainty (Mathys et al., 2011). Previous research also found that beliefs about bad/immoral agents are more uncertain and thus volatile than beliefs about good agents (Siegel et al., 2018). In this preregistered project, we will investigate the effects of acute psychosocial stress on moral inference and whether these effects could be explained by glucocorticoid reactivity.
