Abstract

A novel active power line conditioner (APLC) using power sources of fuel cell and battery set is proposed. The proposed APLC is composed of a current-fed full-bridge converter, a three-port three-leg power converter (TPTLPC), a fuel cell and a battery set. The TPTLPC manages the power conversion between the fuel cell, the battery set, the load and the utility. The power and control circuits of the proposed APLC are simplified because the TPTLPC integrates both DC-DC and DC-AC power conversions into a single power converter. The proposed APLC can perform the functions of active power filter and supplying back-up power. A prototype is developed to verify the performance of the proposed APLC. The experimental results show that the performance is as expected.
