Assessment of Genotoxic and Antigenotoxic Activity of Barbatimão (Stryphnodendron adstringens)

Barbatimao (Stryphnodendron adstringens) is a medicinal plant found in the Cerrado biome and has important pharmacological activities such as: anti-inflammatory, analgesic and cicatrizant. In this study, the objective was to investigate the genotoxic and antigenotoxic activity of barbatimao aqueous solution (SAB). The micronucleus test was performed in bone marrow of 20 mice. To obtain SAB, 30 g of crushed bark were used in one liter of water, with a final concentration of 30 mg / mL.
