Abstract

Lipase-loaded hollow colloidosomes are prepared for Pickering interfacial biocatalysis (PIB). Unlike in other systems, colloidosomes are self-assembled by lipases and silica nanoparticles, achieving a high enzyme-loading process without chemical crosslinking, and can stabilize Pickering emulsion due to the amphiphilic lipase confined in the porous shell. Remarkably, the enzyme encapsulation rate is 95.2%, which is better than other enzyme-loaded carriers in PIB reported so far. This system maintains 80.4% of the initial enzyme activity after 10 cycles, which provides a powerful and green platform for interfacial biocatalysis.
