Abstract

This study addresses the techno-economic investigations of modular plant based on wood biomass for combined production of electricity and methanol (MPEM). The plant is based on wood biomass gasification with air-steam as a gasification agent, catalytic synthesis of methanol, and a combined cycle. The authors developed detail mathematical models of the elements and the plant as a whole, and optimized parameters. The results demonstrates main technical and economic indices of the optimal options of the modular plant for combined production of electricity and methanol. The best option is the option with steam consumption in the gasifier, equal to 0.6 kg/kg of biomass.
