Abstract

The authors consider the effect of crosspath resistance between adjacent rotor bars on the rotor slot design of an inverter-fed high-speed cage induction motor for good steady-state performance. The performance of the induction motor for various crosspath resistances for 28 and 44 rotor slots, with trapezoidal bar is examined on the basis of theoretical and experimental results for a 2.2 kW, 500 Hz, 15000 RPM, 36 stator slot three-phase induction motor. Also investigated is the equivalent rotor resistance and leakage reactance change with crosspath resistance between adjacent rotor bars for various values of fundamental supply frequency, slip, time harmonics, and rotor slot height. >
