Abstract
- This study evaluates the corrosion inhibitive abilities of ammonium phosphate dibasic, 8-hydroxyquinoline, calcium fluoride, sodium fluoride, sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate and zinc nitrate with respect to the protection of the magnesium ZK30 alloy to NaCl solution. A set of characterization assays addressing morphology, composition and structural aspects of the exposed alloys were conducted, along with electrochemical evaluations. The results reveal that upon corrosion new compounds are formed onto the exposed areas of the treated alloys. The conducted experiments shed light on the corrosion mechanisms for Mg ZK30, paving the way for future developments in this area.
