Abstract

The adsorbed state of formic acid (HCOOH) on the Si(111) (7×7) surface has been studied by means of high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS). Formic acid is partially dissociated to form the unidentate formate species (HCOO) of a neutral character and H adatoms on the Si(111) surface at 300 K.
