Abstract
- Gasoline stations and industrial areas are between the most significant sources of groundwater contamination by harmful organic compounds in Israel. Gasoline components, chlorinated ethylenes and nitro-explosives are among the most frequently detected groundwater pollutants. Biochemical degradation and/or attenuation by non-destructive physical processes (e.g. absorption, dispersion, evaporation) affect the distribution of the organic pollutants in the environmental systems.
