ON THE VARIABILITY OF HIGH-FREQUENCY VIBRATIONS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE DRILL STRING

During drilling operations, the drill string, the walls of the well and its environment are subjected to significant vibration loads. Information about the characteristics of these vibrations is important for various tasks, such as improving the reliability of drilling equipment, designing an acoustic communication channel, and developing methods for passive bottomhole zone diagnostics. So far, the vast majority of research has focused on low-frequency components, with little attention to frequencies above a few hundred hertz. In this paper, the main focus is on the analysis of oscillations with a frequency above 500 Hz. The variability of the vibration noise level is considered, an estimate of the time scale on which the process can be considered quasi-stationary is presented, and the spectral characteristics are shown.
