Abstract

In April 1990, Trent Regional Health Authority reorganized nursing and midwifery education into four large colleges. In the north of the region the Sheffield and North Trent College took over five midwifery schools in South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire; in Mid Trent the college encompassed all of Lincolnshire (two midwifery schools), Nottingham and Central Nottinghamshire Schools of Midwifery; to the south, Leicester School of Midwifery became the Charles Frears College of Nursing and Midwifery; and in the west, Derby College comprised just one midwifery school.
