Abstract
- Thermal polarized 6,7Li atoms, produced by an atomic-beam source, were bombarded by a beam of fast Cs0 atoms in order to form polarized negative 6,7Li ions for injection into a tandem accelerator. A beam intensity of 0.28 μA has been achieved. The measured tensor polarization of the 6Li beam was Pζζ = 0.88. The beam intensity agrees well with the value calculated using the known charge exchange cross section.
