Abstract

This paper describes an approach to realize precision and quick position control for Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM). But the magnetic nonlinearity of SRM makes the torque and current control complex and unstable. However, with regard to the high torque and rapid response, SRM has the potential to achieve higher performance. The proposed position control system has the torque controller which considers the magnetic nonlinearity and manufacturing flaw. In the torque controller, the reference current is calculated using the look-up tables tabulated by measured torque characteristics. The experimental results show that the proposed method has the position control capability at arbitrary rotor position.
