Abstract

62. Eugenia riograndis Lundell, Field & Lab. 13: 10 (1945) EOO: 77,063.486 km ². AOO: 100 km ². Evaluation of IUCN: Least Concern. Eugenia riograndis is distributed from southeastern Mexico to Guatemala and Belize (Barrie 2020, WCSP 2020). With 29 records of collections distributed in the state of Chiapas, Tabasco in Mexico and in Guatemala and Belize. The estimated extent of occurrence (EOO) and potentially the area of occupancy (AOO) based on the habitat available, fairly exceed the thresholds for a threatened category under the criterion B. There are more than 15 known locations and all of them have different ongoing threats. The occurrence biome is the Humid Tropical Forest from 13 to 957 m elev. The state of conservation of the habitat of this species can vary from region to region, but it is mainly affected by activities such as agriculture and the growth of small cities. As there are no information on population severely fragmented or population size to access this taxon under different criteria, Eugenia riograndis is classified as Least Concern (LC). Specimens examined:— MEXICO. Chiapas: Breedlove 23349 (MEXU!); Tabasco: Matuda 3241 (MEXU!). Belize: Gentle 4711 (LL); Guatemala: Molina R. 15541 (F).
Published as part of Uc Gala, Victor C., Valdemarin, Karinne Sampaio, Lucas, Eve, Negrão, Raquel & Mazine, Fiorella F., 2023, Eugenia (Myrtaceae) from Mexico: checklist, distribution, and conservation assessments, pp. 99-140 in Phytotaxa 583 (2) on page 122, DOI: 10.11646/phytotaxa.583.2.1, http://zenodo.org/record/7609258
{"references":["Barrie, F.
