October–December 2017: New Beginning

Cobus de Swardt explains how Transparency International (TI) attempts to make a new beginning: it votes out its existing board and installs a new leadership committed to address the breakdown of good governance and ethics in the organisation. This new leadership face immense challenges: they have to deal fairly and decisively with the abuses of the immediate past; unite a divided TI Movement; motivate despondent staff and perform an ethical reset of the organisation. De Swardt also describes how being a whistleblower to TI mars his reputation, undermines his attempts to secure new employment, and threatens his livelihood.
