ChemInform Abstract: A Convenient Synthesis of 3-Heteroarylthiomethyl-1H,8H-cyclohepta(d)pyrazol-8-ones

The reactions of 3-(bromoacetyl)tropolone with benzenethiol and heteroarenethiols gave 3-[(phenylthio)acetyl]tropolone and 3-[(heteroarylthio)acetyl]tropolones respectively. These compounds reacted with hydrazine hydrate and methylhydrazine to afford 3-phenylthiomethyl- and 3-heteroarylthiomethyl-1H,8H-cyclohepta[d]pyrazol-8-ones and their corresponding 1-methyl substituted compounds,respectively.
