Abstract

FEMhasbeenusedtoobtaintheeigen-modesofPCFinvolvingthevarieddistributionofthedielectricholes.PCFwasassumedtobeconstructedwiththebackgroundmaterialofhigh-indexdielectricandtheseveralcircularholesoflow-indexone.TheseholeswerethedielectricsuchliketheairandsurroundedthecentralregionofPCF.FEMhasgiventheresultsthatthespectrawerevariedaccordingtothepositionanddimensionofthedielectricairholes.Eacheigen-modeshavebeenidentifiedbasedonthespectraoftheconventionalopticalfiber.Thespectrahaveshownthatthebackgroundmaterialrestrictedthedistributionofelectromagneticfieldtothecentralregion.Fromtheseresults,ithasreconfirmedthattheairdielectricholescombinedwithbackgroundmaterialtoconfinetheelectromagneticfieldintothesmallcentralregionofPCF.
