Abstract: A methanodehydro[24]annulenedione with a 1,4-dichlorobutatriene moiety was synthesized. The compound formed a highly stable dicationic species in D2SO4, which showed the strongest diatropicity hitherto reported for 22π-electron aromatic systems.
