Abstract
- The design of a physics-based reduce-order battery model is especially desired by the automotive researchers and engineers due to the demand of battery system diagnosis and prognostics. Taking the problem into account, three physics- based electrochemical models include Pseudo two dimensional (P2D) model, extended single particle (ESP) model, single particle (SP) model are analyzed in this paper. The internal overpotential components are analyzed under six operating conditions. Results show that the SP model is appropriate for close-to-equilibrium OCV test condition; the ESP model is appropriate for slow charging, typical charging and driving cycle operating conditions; the P2D model is suitable for high C-rate constant current or pulse current discharge conditions. The analysis result method and result is meaningful for model order reduction.
